Hair Removal

Waxing, tweezing and shaving are painful and time-consuming methods to remove hair. Results are typically short-lived, only to have stubble return and painful ingrown hairs.

There are options: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Long Pulsed 1064nm Laser for hair removal. You can expect long-lasting results, that are safe and proven for removing unwanted facial and body hair.

What is IPL?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light that delivers a series of short, rapid pulses of light with minimal side effects & discomfort.

What should you expect?

Many describe the sensation similar to that of a rubber band snapping against the skin. Topical anesthesia is rarely needed, but may be utilized when treating more sensitive body areas.

How many treatments are necessary?
Because hair follicles are in an active growth cycle at various times, multiple treatments are recommended to achieve optimal results. On average, betewen 4 - 6 sessions will provide optimal results.  Of course, actual number of treatments to provide optimal long-term benefits depends on many factors such as hair thickness, the hair’s growth cycle and the body area being treated. Remember, no hair removal system available provides 100% hair removal, however, you should expect a 90% reduction in hair.

Does IPL work on all hair colors?
Blonde or red hair is difficult to remove, due to minimal pigment in the hair follicle. In general, hair removal with IPL (and even laser) does not work on gray or white hair due to lack of pigment. For darker pigmented patients the Long Pulsed 1064nm Nd:YAG Laser is the gold standard.
